The story of Our Final Hour....
The band started out in the Spring of 2005. Brett Grala, the founder of MOSH (the bands current name) was
looking for people to play at the NBHS Spring Talent Show. He came across Dan Boughton, who decided he would play guitar in
the show, and Todd Cheney who would sing. Their bass player at the time DJ, played as well. So the four of them played "Smells
Like Teen Spirit" by Nirvana, at the Spring Talent Show.
The only change for the next show was the introduction of Mike Harrison as the new bassist of the band, still known
as MOSH. Dan Boughton, Brett Grala, Mike Harrison, and Todd Cheney played the NBHS Summer Talent Show, featuring the Incubus
song, "Speak Free". The band did a very decent job, considering it was a more upbeat song with more complications than the
previous Nirvana song. "Speak Free", over time, became MOSH's signature cover.
The summer of 2004 came around, and MOSH didn't get much done. One thing they did accomplish however, was a new
name. The new name of the band was "Lethologica". Although we all liked the name, it was pretty hard to say and remember for
most spectators, but it stuck. School came around once again. Our next performance was November 19th, Bands Give Back. It
was a charitable function run by the "Best Buddies" club. The show was a success. We introduced our new singer, Tim Walsh.
This made 5 of us in the band now. We played "Smells Like Teen Spirit" and "Speak Free" once again. This was our first show
with more than one song being played. We also played our first original song, which wasn't a big hit. Far too repetitive and
lacked vocals. So despite our meteocre original piece, it was a decent show.
The next show came the day before Christmas vacation. This show was much better than the previous ones. We played
quite a few more covers than any other show before. This time around, we played "SMTS" and "Speak Free", but we also played
2 HIM songs, "Wicked Game" and Right Here In My Arms", and also "Duality" by Slipknot. Unfortunately, Slipknot didn't come
out as well as we had hoped, but you win some, you lose some. This show was a very cover-ish show, but it gave us a wide selection
of music to play when we run out of original music (which was our next big goal).
Then, as the band started to come together, we ran into some problems, although the band was making progress. Tim
decided to quit the band, so we lacked a singer for our next show, the March Cafe Tempo. Mike and Todd began to learn the
material needed to produce a decent show. We had made our second original song, named "Realize My Kind", which features vocals
for a change, done by Mike. The bands name was changed to "Our Final Hour" during this time period as well. There is still
controversy about whether or not the name change was a good move. Then, a strange turn of events came about. Mike explained
the bands dilemma to his good friend Eric Zenhye, who lived close to him at his dad's house in Burlington, but went to CCSU,
very close to Our Final Hour. So we decided to give him a shot at singing. Eric auditioned and did great, so we accepted him
into Our Final Hour. This was 2 days before the show. We decided to make a bold move and have him play with us. Not only did
we play with Eric on vocals, but Mike and Eric put together an additional original work within those 2 days before the show.
Mike and Eric still say what a stressful 2 days those were. But we pulled it off, headlined at the March Cafe Tempo, and rocked.
Todd announced his departure from Our Final Hour that night at Cafe Tempo, leaving Mike Harrison to primarily play bass, sometimes
rhythm guitar, and sometimes vocals, Dan Boughton on lead guitar, Brett Grala on drums, and Eric Zenhye singing and playing
back-up guitar or bass if it's called for.
The band took form in that way. It was a long, tedious process to finally get Our Final Hour to a set group, but
I think we've finally established a great group of musicians to put together music. We have our covers, we have our name,
we have our musicians, we have our original pieces....so look out for us at future Cafe Tempo's and lots of other shows!
